In Broward use the opt-out Ballottrax feature to receive automatic notifications of the status of your ballot.

The Details

The Ballot

A no-excuses vote-by-mail (VBM) ballot is one of three ways to vote in Florida, the other two being Early Voting and Election Day voting.

IF YOU MADE A REQUEST TO RECEIVE A VBM BALLOT PRIOR TO THE NOVEMBER 8, 2022 GENERAL ELECTION, THAT REQUEST EXPIRED DECEMBER 31, 2022.  A new state law requires that a VBM request be renewed every General Election cycle—every two years. A request made now will be valid through December 31, 2024.

To request that a VBM ballot BE MAILED to you, the request must be made at least 10 days before an upcoming election. AFTER THAT DEADLINE (and up to and including Election Day) you may call the SOE office to request a ballot that you (or a designee) will be instructed to pick up at a specific time and location.  In Broward you will pick up the ballot at the Voting Equipment Center.

The VBM Ballot Request

New electoral laws require that the same ID (or Social Security number) be used to request a ballot as when you first registered to vote. Also, your name must be written as it is on that original form of ID. If you do not comply the SOE will contact you to ask that you re-submit your request.

Each county SOE will handle the request process differently. In Broward there are six ways to make the request (select the “Vote By Mail” tab on the homepage). The two easiest ways are:

Phone: 954-357-7055

Online: select the “Vote By Mail” tab

Once the request has been submitted verify that it has been processed by visiting your personal registration page (“My Voter Info” tab).  Also, visit this tab to make any changes in the address to which you want your ballot mailed:  A VBM BALLOT CANNOT BE FORWARDED.

In Broward (and 22 other Florida counties) the SOE offers Ballottrax, a service that automatically notifies you when your ballot has been printed, mailed, received, and counted. You choose how you want to be notified—text, phone, email (as many ways as you want). In Broward this is an opt-out service.
